New Orleans Navy Week April 17–23, 2012 In April, 2012, New Orleans will host the United States Navy and the 47th Operation Sail event. We are the premiere destination for the tall ships, Navy vessels, and the Blue Angels, as they celebrate two important American anniversaries. This isn’t a convention just for them. They are coming for us. From Lake Pontchartrain where the Blue Angels will fly to witnessing tall ships and vessels from the Navy’s impressive fleet, we will watch them make their way up the Mississippi River The amphibious behemoth, the United States Navy Wasp along with five large navy vessels will welcome Class A tall ships from countries around the world to New Orleans, joining the U.S. Navy and OpSail 2012 for the Star-Spangled Sail during a festive celebration from April 17 – 23, 2012. The colorful spectacle of ships will be spread on the East bank of the Mississippi River from Erato Street to Upper Poland Avenue. Additionally, the Navy’s famed Blue Angels will perform a memorable air show.
