| "Veterans Village" Housing Project Proposed For Winnsboro Area In Franklin Parish |

Community Need, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a goal in mind to build affordable housing to meet the needs of veterans, not only in the community and state but nation-wide for those who wish to apply. The project has been in the works for over three years now and building could begin before the end of the year if the positive progress continues.
Franklin Parish is located in the North Eastern part of Louisiana and is a quiet and beautiful place to live. Community Need, Inc. has acquired 122 acres about eight miles from the town of Winnsboro on which to build 200-plus cottages. All cottages will be 28' x 60', wheelchair and bath assessable to the disabled. They will be made of steel, fire and bug resistant, and able to sustain winds of 140 mph.

Occupants will consist of veterans, their widows or widowers, 50 years of age and above, with no dependent children or grandchildren. It is their hope to create a retirement community that is quiet and peaceful, made up entirely of those who have given of themselves in service to this country - a community where there is a genuine common bond.
The community is being planned with having residency based on income, keeping all living expenses at a modest level, as their goal is a quality of life for those so deserving. The Planning Team of Community Need, Inc. has designed a clinic, an assisted living facility, gymnasium, walking/wheelchair trails, a catfish pond for the veterans to be able to fish, and a five acre garden. The cottages will have large front porches with swings and rocking chairs will allow enjoyment of the wonderful sunsets.
